Connecticut and Georgetown Split #BIGEASTbase Weekly Honors

BIG EAST Player of the Week
Eric Stock, UConn, Sr., OF (Virginia Beach, Va.)
Eric Stock led Connecticut to a trio of wins on the week , improving to 5-1 on the season. The native of Virginia Beach, Va., posted multiple hits in all three contests against North Florida. Overall, he batted 6-for-14 (.429) with three runs scored. He also tallied his first home run of the season in an 11-0 triumph, while collecting four RBI over the three-game stretch.
 
BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Nolan McCarthy, Georgetown, Sr., RHP (Portland, Ore.)
McCarthy dominated Norfolk State through his six scoreless innings of work on Saturday, giving Georgetown the commanding 4-0 lead early on. He held the opposition to just two hits on the afternoon, while tying a career-high with nine strikeouts. Overall, McCarthy earned his first win on the Hilltop, as the Hoyas walked away with a 6-2 win.
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Aaron Barokas, Butler, Jr., RHP (Redmond, Wash.)
Barokas went 1-0 on the week, earning the start Sunday against Jackson State. He threw six scoreless innings, allowed just two hits and struck out seven batters, in the Bulldogs’ 2-1 win.
Travis Holt, Butler, Gr., INF (Plantation, Fla.)
Holt hit .538 over the weekend, helping the Bulldogs pick up three victories. He recorded seven hits over 13 at-bats and led the team with four runs scored. He walked twice and was hit once to raise his on-base percentage to .625. Holt also stole three bases.
Pat Gallagher, UConn, So., RHP (Leominster, Mass.)
Gallagher pitched seven innings on Saturday, giving up just three hits and striking out nine batters in a dominating 11-0 victory over North Florida.
Tommy Steier, Creighton, RJr., RHP (Elkhorn, Neb.)
Steier picked up his first win of the season, tossing 5.2 innings of scoreless relief in the rubber game of Creighton’s series at Loyola Marymount. Entering the game with Creighton down 5-3, Steier limited the Lions to just one hit, notching five strikeouts and just two walks in the 8-5 comeback win.
Cole Patten, Villanova, Sr., SP (Manasquan, N.J.)
Patten tossed a gem Saturday with eight innings of one-run ball, allowing two hits and fanning six batters for his first win of the season. In his first two outings, Patten has allowed just one earned run on eight hits and struck out 12 batters in 15.2 innings pitched. He is currently sporting a 0.57 ERA.
