WASHINGTON – The number three-seeded Georgetown women's soccer team fell to the number six-seeded St. Louis Billikens 2-1 in the second round of the NCAA Championships. With the loss, GU finishes the season with a 13-2-7 record.
Head Coach Dave Nolan
"Obviously this is not the result we wanted. We had hoped that we had a couple more rounds in us, but it was a very tough game against a very good team and a tough offense. I thought overall we did a pretty good job of limiting their opportunities, I just think that when we had the ball on the attacking side, we really didn't show our best stuff until late in the second half. Unfortunately, it has been like that a little bit for us this year, but I can't argue with the effort from the kids. You want your best players and your seniors to finish off with their best games. I thought
Allie Augur was exceptional in goal,
Julia Leas and
Brianne Riley were exceptional in the back and
Emma Davis did a great job for us as well in the midfield. It is a little disappointing and the girls will be hurt by this, but I think when they look back at it, they will realize what a great season it was. Hopefully it will propel us to more great things in the future."
