Denver, Providence and Georgetown Split Final #BIGEASTmlax Weekly Honors

BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week
Richie Connell, Denver, Sr., A (Evergreen, Colo.)
Registered a season-high four goals and six points in Denver’s overtime win over Marquette on Friday night in Milwaukee. The senior had a pair of game-tying goals in the second quarter and assisted on the Jack Tortolani goal with four seconds left to give Denver the lead at the intermission. He later scored two more goals in the third quarter to make it 11-9 and 12-11, respectively. In 13 regular-season games this season, Connell has 14 goals and 18 assists.
 
BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week
Michael Chabra, Providence, Jr., M (Reading Mass.)
In a back-and-forth overtime win over St. John’s on Saturday afternoon, Chabra tallied a game-high five goals to help the Friars lock up the No. 4 seed in Thursday’s BIG EAST Championship presented by Jeep. After St. John’s jumped out to a 4-0 lead, Chabra placed Providence on the board with 6:01 remaining in the first quarter, before making it a 4-3 game with his second goal of the game. In the second half, the junior midfielder broke a pair of ties, earning a tally to place PC in front 10-9, before registering his fifth goal to give the Friars an 11-10 advantage.
 
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Will Bowen, Georgetown, Gr., D (Cohasset, Mass.)
Led the Hoya defense to a 12-8 win over No. 10 Villanova to clinch their second-straight undefeated BIG EAST regular season and secure their third consecutive BIG EAST Regular Season Championship. Credited with three caused turnovers and a ground ball, Bowen was tasked with the top defensive assignments throughout the contest. As a team, the Hoyas held Villanova to just 34 shots and 15 shots on goal and held the Wildcats more than five goals below their season average.
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Richie Joseph, Providence, Fr., A (Longmeadow, Mass.)
Joseph played a key role in Providence’s 12-11 overtime win over St. John’s on Saturday to clinch a position in the BIG EAST Championship. Trailing 6-3 in the opening half, the attacker dished out back-to-back assists before burying the equalizer prior to the halftime whistle. Overall, he capped the game with four points, dishing out a trio of assists.
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Tucker Dordevic, Georgetown, Gr., A
Led the Hoyas with five points on four goals and an assist in Georgetown’s 12-8 win over No. 10 Villanova, posting a hat trick in the opening quarter.
Bobby O’Grady, Marquette, So., A
O’Grady posted a game-high six goals for the Golden Eagles against No. 11/10 Denver, the fourth sock trick of O’Grady’s career and the second time this season that he’s scored six times. O’Grady’s 43 goals this season are second in program history to the 45 he scored as a freshman in 2022. The lefty ended his second year in Milwaukee with 49 points and how has 99 career points just 29 games into his NCAA career.
Kyle Munson, St. John’s, Sr., G
Munson had 23 saves against Providence, which tied Dan Goldberg 23 on March 10, 2007 for the most in program history since reinstatement in 2005. The senior also notched career highs with six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
