Four Teams Split #BEsoccer Weekly Honors

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Emil Jaaskelainen, Akron, R-Sr., F (Bolton, England)
The nation’s leading scorer continued his recent offensive tear with five goals in a pair of wins by the Zips last week. Jaaskelainen opened with two goals in a 6-1 win over Wright State on Tuesday, before compiling a first-half hat trick to defeat Villanova 3-2 on Saturday. Against the Wildcats, the redshirt senior registered a season-high 12 shots, including five on net. Overall, Jaaskelainen leads the nation in goals scored (14) and points scored (34). The Bolton, England native has also been the offensive catalyst during the Zips current six-game winning streak, netting 11 goals and dishing out four assists, tallying at least one point in all six outings.
 
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Maximus Jennings, Georgetown, Sr., D (Montclair, N.J.)
Jennings and the Georgetown defense posted a pair of shutouts over the weekend, as the Hoyas tied UMBC 0-0 on Tuesday, before earning a hard-fought 1-0 win over UConn on Saturday. The Hoyas defense limited the Retrievers to just four shots on goal, and the Huskies to three to lock up the team’s seventh and eighth shutouts of the season, and third in a row.
 
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Blake Gillingham, Creighton, Jr., GK (San Jose, Calif.)
Gillingham allowed just one goal in two road matches, helping Creighton post a pair of victories. Blake preserved the Bluejays’ first BIG EAST victory over Xavier in a road match, with three saves including two in the second half. In Wednesday’s win over Omaha, he notched five saves as Creighton defeated its rival 2-1. Overall, he corralled eight saves in 180 minutes played.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Tyler Morck, St. John’s, R-Fr., M (Bethpage, N.Y.)
Morck provided the game-winning goal, part of a three-point performance in the Red Storm's 4-1 victory over DePaul. The Bethpage, N.Y., native started the game with a primary assist on Julian Jakopovic's 11th-minute strike. Morck proceeded to boot home his fourth of the season just 1:16 later to double the Red Storm's lead just 12:03 into the contest. Of his five shots taken last week, Morck produced two on frame across 115 minutes of work.
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Matthew Reed, Creighton, So., D (Felton, Del.)
Forced into a leadership role with Mark O’Neill unavailable against Xavier, Reed moved into the center back position for the first time. The sophomore defender shined, leading his squad to a shutout win on the road. Reed’s defensive intensity helped limit Xavier to eight shots in the match, including just two in the first half.
 
Noeh Hernandez, DePaul, So., M (Bridgeview, Ill.)
Hernandez scored a pair of goals and dished out an assist in a 1-1 week for the Blue Demons. He registered both goals in a 3-1 midweek win over Oakland, while dishing out an assist in DePaul’s setback against St. John’s.

Tenzing Manske, Georgetown, Jr., GK  (Santa Fe, N.M.)
Manske had a 1-0 mark in goal, leading the Hoyas to a 1-0 victory over UConn on Saturday. The junior had three saves in the shutout.

Julian Jakopovic, St. John’s, Jr., D (Stuttgart, Germany)
In 90 minutes of work against DePaul, Jakopovic was the Johnnies most dominant player in a 4-1 win, tallying a goal and an assist on the offensive end, while also limiting the visitors to just three shots on goal.
 
Jason Bouregy, Villanova, Gr., M (Paramus, N.J.)
In a 1-1 week for the Wildcats, Bouregy contributed a pair of assists to a 3-2 win over Columbia and then added a goal and an assist in a 3-2 BIG EAST loss Saturday night at Akron.
