MBB Minute – BIG EAST teams won three of four games Friday night with Marquette, DePaul and Butler grabbing victories. Villanova lost a neutral site contest. A five-game Saturday slate is afternoon-heavy and has all league squads playing at home.

Marquette held on in the final minute to win 78-74 at Maryland. Kam Jones scored a game-high 28 points and Stevie Mitchell added 18 points, which included some crucial free throws down the stretch. The Golden Eagles (4-0) committed only eight turnovers in their first road contest of the season.
DePaul overcame a slow start and pulled away from Duquesne in an 84-58 victory at Wintrust Arena. Isaiah Rivera led five players in double figures with 18 points. The Blue Demons (4-0) have recorded three straight victories by 25 points or more for the first time since December, 1994.
Butler used a 16-2 run midway through the second half to defeat SMU 81-70 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Jahmyl Telfort sparked the Bulldogs (3-1) by scoring 17 of his team-high 19 points in the second half. Telfort led six teammates in double figures and added six rebounds and five assists.
Three-point shooting was a big factor in
Villanova losing to Virginia 70-60 in a Hall of Fame Classic contest in Baltimore. The Wildcats (2-3) made only 9-of-32 while the Cavaliers connected on 14-of-25. Eric Dixon led Villanova with 20 points and eight rebounds.
The Saturday schedule starts with two contests at noon ET.
Xavier hosts Wake Forest in the Skip Prosser Classic on FS1. FS2 will carry Wagner at
Seton Hall. At 1 p.m.
Georgetown hosts Notre Dame on NBC. FS2 will telecast Green Bay at
Providence at 5 p.m. and Kansas City at
Creighton at 7 p.m.
