Georgetown Falls to Iowa in NCAA Championships Second Round

LOS ANGELES – The number six-seeded Georgetown University women's soccer team fell to the number three-seeded Iowa Hawkeyes 1-0 in the second round of the NCAA Championships on Friday evening at UCLA. With the loss, GU finishes the season with a 13-4-4 record.

Head Coach Dave Nolan
"Tonight was a funny ole game and it wasn't the prettiest game of soccer. We tried to play our way and they obviously tried to play their way and there really wasn't much to choose between the teams. I can't really remember our goalkeeper having to make a save and in a game like that, it is usually settled on a bad mistake or an incredible moment of skill. The goal that they scored was a goal worthy to win a game. Congrats to Iowa and good luck to them in the next round.

My kids are obviously heartbroken, but I am so proud of them because we left everything on the field and our seniors did everything they could to help us try and find a way to get something out of this game but it didn't quite bounce our way tonight. I think when they look back over their careers and this season, they will realize they have a lot to be proud of. Special shout out to all of the people who came to support us tonight, it was great to see so many Hoya fans in the stands so thank you to those guys. We will sign off, lick our wounds and get ready for next year."
