The BIG EAST had two top 10 wins at the NCAA Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 23 in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Providence women placed third while the Georgetown women placed ninth in the team rankings.
In addition to the team standings three individual athletes placed in the top 10 including Connecticut's Chloe Thomas, Providence's Kimberley May and Villanova's Liam Murphy.
On the women's side, the Friars placed third out of 31 teams with 183 points. It was the team's highest finish since their first-place finish in 2013. The team was led by senior Kimberley May who placed 10
th, graduate student Alex Millard (20
th) and graduate student Shannon Flockhart (24
th). All three athletes earned All-America honors. For May it was her fifth All-America accolade and first in cross country. For Flockhart it was her sixth All-America honor and first in cross country. It was Millard's first All-America honor.
The Hoyas came in ninth with 263 points, marking their highest team finish since 2014. They were led by senior Chloe Scrimgeour who finished 23
rd and earned All-America honors for the sixth time in her career.
There were three individual runners on the women's side. UConn's Chloe Thomas finished in ninth place, the highest finish by a Husky in program history, and earned All-America honors. Villanova's Sadie Sigfstead finished 15
th and earned All-America honors. UConn's Jenna Zydanowicz placed 102
nd in her national championship debut.
On the men's side, Butler, Georgetown and Villanova had teams finish in the top 25.
The Wildcats finished 15
th. They were led by All-America performances from fifth year Liam Murphy (ninth) and junior Marco Langon (15
th). This was the first top 15 finish for the men's team since 2014.
The Bulldogs came in 20
th place and were led by redshirt sophomore William Zegarski (17
th) who was coming off a first-place finish at the Great Lakes Regional. He earned All-America honors and was the first Bulldog to do so since 2022.
The Hoyas finished 23
rd after entering the competition ranked 25
th in the country. Graduate student Abel Teffra was the team's highest finisher at 65
th.
