DePaul Cruises To Thursday Victory; Four Games Set For Friday

MBB Minute – DePaul is 2-0 under new head coach Chris Holtmann after rolling past Prairie View A&M 92-59 at Wintrust Arena on Thursday. The Blue Demons opened the game with a 15-4 run and led 45-20 by halftime. Isaiah Rivera led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points. Four others reached double figures. Rivera leads the team with a 21.0 scoring average after two games.
 
The Friday slate shows four games. The night begins with Xavier hosting IU-Indianapolis at 6 p.m. ET on FS1. The Musketeers (1-0) will be playing the second of five straight home games to open the season. Zach Freemantle had 19 points and 11 rebounds in Monday’s win over Texas Southern  after being out for a season and a half due to injuries.
 
FS2 will telecast a doubleheader that starts with Butler (1-0) hosting Austin Peay at 6:30 p.m. The Bulldogs, who were without injured point guard Finley Bizjack in the opener against Missouri State, were led by Jahmyl Telfort’s 29 points.
 
The second half of the FS2 twinbill has Villanova at home against NJIT at 8:30 p.m. The game will be the third in five nights for the Wildcats (1-1) who lost to Columbia on Wednesday. Eric Dixon had 33 points.
 
No. 18 Marquette will play George Mason on campus at the Al McGuire Center at 9 p.m. It will be the first BIG EAST game carried on Peacock. The Golden Eagles had little trouble in their opener, handling Stony Brook 102-62. Kam Jones led MU with 32 points.
