MBB Minute – Villanova and St. John’s recorded on-campus victories on Wednesday as non-conference play winds down.
 
Villanova (7-4) has a four-game winning streak after defeating Fairleigh Dickinson 86-72 at Finneran Pavilion. Eric Dixon, who entered the game ranked second nationally in scoring, netted 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field. Wooga Poplar added 19 points and four assists.
 
St. John’s (8-2) used a 54-point second half to defeat Bryant 99-77 at Carnesecca Arena. Zuby Ejiofor posted his fourth double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds. RJ Luis Jr. helped with 17 points. The Johnnies’ eight wins have all come by at least 13 points.
 
The schedule is dark until a loaded Saturday which includes nine challenging non-league games. Four of the contests include at least one ranked squad.  Ten of the 11 games next week will be conference games.
 
BIG EAST teams are 78-30 (.722) against non-conference competition going into Saturday.
