No. 11 UConn outlasted
Xavier 94-89 in Hartford. All five Huskies (9-3, 1-0 BIG EAST) reached double figures in scoring with Solo Ball leading the way with 22 points. Tarris Reed Jr. and Alex Karaban each posted 20 points with Reed also taking down 13 rebounds and blocking four shots. Ryan Conwell had 23 points for the Musketeers (8-4, 0-1). Dante Maddox Jr., who had scored 55 points in 11 games, dropped 22 points, including five 3-pointers.
Georgetown turned up the defense in an 81-57 handling of
Creighton. The Hoyas held the Bluejays to 32.3 percent shooting in the first half while gaining a 34-28 edge at the break. GU outscored CU 47-29 in the second half. Micah Peavy filled his stat line with 20 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and seven steals. Jayden Epps made 5-of-6 from beyond the arc and finished with 21 points. Steven Ashworth had 21 points for Creighton (7-5, 0-1).

Marquette outscored
Butler 48-35 in the second half in its 80-70 victory. The Golden Eagles (10-2, 1-0) committed only two turnovers. Kam Jones led all scorers with 23 points. Stevie Mitchell helped with 15 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field and nine rebounds. Jahmyl Telfort and Kolby King each had 16 points for the Bulldogs (7-5, 0-1).
