Matt Licata, Villanova, Sr., A (Sandown, N.H.)
Licata continued to impress on the offensive end of the field leading the Wildcats with four goals and five points in Saturday’s win over Monmouth. Licata has now scored two or more goals in six straight games. The senior also added a ground ball and a caused turnover in the victory. Overall, Licata has 30 points on the season, tallying 19 goals and dishing out 11 assists in seven games.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Malcolm Kleban, Denver, Sr., G (New York, N.Y.)
For the fifth time in 2024, Kleban made double-digit saves while also setting a season-high in save percentage at .684. The senior netminder made 13 saves on Sunday at Ohio State, in a 9-6 triumph. With the win, he improved to 6-1 on the year. In just over 400 minutes played, he has maintained a .507 save percentage with 73 saves.
BIG EAST Specialist of the Week
Justin Coppola, Villanova, Gr., FOS (Garden City, N.Y.)
Coppola dominated the faceoff X in Villanova’s win over Monmouth. The graduate student won 18-of-24 (.750) faceoffs to lead the Wildcats' attack. In addition, he collected a season-high 11 ground balls.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Colin Michener, Villanova, R-Fr., A Plymouth Meeting, Pa.)
Michener poured in his fourth hat trick of the season to lead Villanova to a 12-11 win over Monmouth on Saturday.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
AJ Mercurio, Denver, Gr., D
Led the Pioneers back line to a 9-6 triumph over Ohio State, causing three turnovers and collecting four ground balls. The defender also dished out an assist in the win.
Alec Stathakis, Denver, Gr., FOS
Stathakis won each of his fourth quarter face-offs and finished the afternoon 13-for-19 (.684) at the X with nine ground balls.
Mic Kelly, Denver, Jr., M
Led the Pioneers with his second hat-trick of the season and third of his career. Kelly also added a caused turnover in the fourth quarter to prevent Ohio State from narrowing the gap.
Dane Armstrong, St. John’s, Sr., FOS
Armstrong won 17-of-25 (.680) draws against Saint Joseph’s on Saturday. The senior started the game five-for-five and finished the first half 9-of-13. The 17 faceoffs won are a career-best and he also scooped a career-high 11 groundballs.
Stephen Zupicich, Villanova, Gr., LSM
Zupicich caused three turnovers and picked up three ground balls on Saturday. The graduate student is second in the country with three caused turnovers per game.
