Xavier's Carroll Named USBWA Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week

NEW YORK - Xavier's Tre Carroll - who earned his first BIG EAST Player of the Week honor on Monday - was selected as one of five Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week by the U.S Basketball Writers Association.

Carroll was key in the Musketeers' 2-0 week, which included a win over Cincinnati in the annual Crosstown Shootout game.  The 6-8 forward averaged 25.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in wins over Saint Francis on Dec. 1 and Cincinnati on Dec. 5. He shot 60.5 percent (23-38) from the field for the week.

In the win over Cincinnati, Carroll scored a career-high 30 points and pulled down seven rebounds.  It was the Musketeers' sixth win in the last seven meetings against its crosstown rival.  For the season, Carroll leads Xavier and ranks fifth in the BIG EAST in scoring at 17.3 points per outing. His 48.6 percent field goal proficiency rate ranks sixth in the BIG EAST.

Each Tuesday during the regular season, the USBWA will select five standouts from the 31 Division I conference players of the week to be recognized. This week's selections were Cameron Boozer (Duke), Cruz Davis (Hofstra), Aidan Mahaney (UC Santa Barbara) and Milan Momcilivic (Iowa State).  Prior to the 2024-25 season, the USBWA had recognized just one player each week.
