Villanova, Xavier Split BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards

BIG EAST Attacker of the Week  
Sydney Pappas, Villanova, Sr., A
In a 2-0 week for the Wildcats, Pappas had eight goals and four assists. Against Lafayette, she helped her team to a 16-5 win with three goals and four assists. At Columbia, she had five goals en route to a 12-8 win. She now holds the school record for most goals at 155. Pappas added one ground ball to her stat sheet in each game. 

BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week
Emma Verhoest, Villanova, So., M/DS 
Verhoest helped the Wildcats to two wins with 12 draw controls against Lafayette and 16 draw controls against Columbia. 16 tied her own school record set earlier this season for most draw controls in one game. 

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Teegan Lannon, Xavier, So., GK
Xavier earned its first win of the season with a 13-5 victory over Gardner-Webb. Lannon had five saves, three ground balls and two caused turnovers in the win. Against Wofford, where the Musketeers lost 14-12, Lannon had nine saves, three ground balls and one caused turnover. 

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Morgan Handzel, Xavier, Fr., M/DS
With 15 draw controls in the win against Gardner-Webb, Handzel broke her own single-game program record and became the single season draw control record holder just six games into the season. Against Wofford, she added another 11 draw controls to her season total. 

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Meg Bireley, Marquette, Sr., A
In a 1-1 week for Marquette, Bireley recorded eight goals, four assists, three draw controls, one caused turnover and one ground ball. In a 15-6 loss at Colorado, she had three goals and one draw control. Against Detroit Mercy, Bireley helped her team to a 24-10 win with five goals, a career-high four assists, two draw controls, one caused turnover and one ground ball. After this week's games, she broke the program record for career points with 222 and tied the program record for career goals with 175. 

Lola Mancuso, Xavier, Jr., A
In the win over Gardner-Webb, Mancuso scored six goals in addition to five ground balls and two draw controls. Against Wofford, she had six goals, one assist, one ground ball and three draw controls. She is the first Musketeer to record 100 career goals. 

Hanna Bodner, Marquette, Sr., M
Bodner scored a career-high five goals, a career-high six draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers against Detroit Mercy. She also had one goal, four draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover at Colorado.
