Xavier Women’s Tennis Wins Fifth-Consecutive BIG EAST Championship

CAYCE, S.C. – The second-seeded Xavier women’s tennis team won its fifth consecutive BIG EAST title with a 4-0 victory over No. 4 Villanova in the finale of the 2025 BIG EAST Women’s Tennis Championship presented by JEEP. Overall, the Musketeers have claimed six BIG EAST crowns.

With the victory, Xavier earned the league’s automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship. Their opponent and schedule will be announced during the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, April 28 at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Emily Flowers was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after going 6-0 in combined doubles and singles play. All three of Flowers singles wins came in straight sets.

Xavier took the doubles point, beginning with a 6-2 victory on the third court (Flowers & Natalie Smitek def. Maggie Gehrig & Lauren Monti). Elizabeth Pendergast and Madeleine Rexroat followed at No. 2 doubles, defeating Olivia Corcoran and Jenna Stevens, 6-4.

Abby Nugent led the singles competition, taking the second court from Corcoran, 6-1, 6-1. Flowers followed with a 6-0, 6-2 result at No. 4 singles (def. Mirian Gondorova).

Rexroat clinched the match, defeating Gehrig on the third court, 6-3, 0-6, 6-2.
