CAYCE, S.C. – Top-seeded St. John’s defeated No. 2 Creighton, 4-0 to win the 2025 BIG EAST Men’s Tennis Championship. Overall, the Red Storm have claimed eight conference crowns.
With the victory, St. John’s earned the league’s automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship. Their opponent and schedule will be announced during the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, April 28 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
Carl Gustavsson was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after winning a combined four matches in doubles and singles play. Both Gustavsson’s singles victories came in straight sets.
The Red Storm registered the doubles point beginning with 6-2 finish from Max Amling and Armando Sotelo on the top court (def. Ethan Neil & Rocky McKenzie). Teammates Danilo Raicevic and Gustavsson followed, besting Yuma Daijima and Alejandro Gandini, 6-3, at No. 2 doubles.
Ryota Kaneda claimed the first singles victory with a straight set finish over Neil on the sixth court (6-4, 6-2). Ignacio Vinas defeated Kirtan Patel moments later at No. 3 singles (6-3, 6-1) to extend St. John’s lead.
Leonardo Mileikowsky clinched the match on the fourth court, defeating Kuo 6-2, 6-3.
