QUEENS, N.Y. –
The St. John's men's tennis team will take on Princeton in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Charlottesville, Va., the NCAA announced on Monday, unveiling the full 64-team field.

Virginia takes the top seed in the four-team region and will face Bucknell in the opening round. The winners of Saturday's first-round contests will square off on Sunday at 1 p.m. with a spot in the Super Regionals on the line.

This is the third time the Johnnies will be in Charlottesville for the NCAA Tournament, having previously faced the Cavaliers in 2015 and 2019.

The Red Storm, earning a bid to the tournament for the sixth time in program history, are coming off their third BIG EAST Championship over the past six years under Head Coach Dillon Pottish.

St. John's went 25-2 this season, marking the winningest campaign in program history. In last week's conference tournament, the Red Storm won three matches in three days, culminating in a 4-0 sweep over No. 2 Creighton in the championship, punching its first ticket to the NCAA Tournament since 2023.

The Johnnies went 4-0 in conference play this year and have not lost a BIG EAST match in the regular season since 2013. Both of the Red Storm's defeats this year, against Cornell and Arizona, came against 2025 NCAA Tournament teams.

Ryota Kaneda led St. John's this season, going 18-1 in solo play and 18-1 in doubles action, including a 17-1 mark alongside Adam Groves. Leonardo Mileikowsky's 17th solo triumph of the season clinched the BIG EAST title for the Johnnies.

In his first season in Queens, Max Amling won 15 individual matches, while two-time All-BIG EAST selection Carl Gustavsson went 14- 5.

Princeton went 21-8 this year and 5-2 in conference play. St. John's is 3-7 all-time against the Tigers, most recently falling to its New Jersey opponents in 2022. This will be the third neutral site matchup between the two programs and the first since 2012.
