Georgetown and Xavier Earn #BIGEASTbase Weekly Awards

BIG EAST Player of the Week
Owen Carapellotti, Georgetown, Sr., C (Canton, Mich.)
Carapellotti was unbelievable in a 1-3 week for Georgetown, slashing .556/.600/1.389. The senior tallied 10 hits, six runs scored, three doubles, four home runs and 13 RBI. On top of a 1.000 fielding percentage, Carapellotti chipped in one walk and one hit by pitch. In Saturday’s game against Butler, Carapellotti set the new program record for career home runs passing Jake Hyde with 49 in his Hoya career. In a series opening win against the Bulldogs, he contributed seven RBI and two runs on a 4-for-5 hitting performance.
 
BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Ben Weber, Xavier, Jr., RHP (St. Paul, Minn.)
Weber pitched a team-high 7.0 innings last week, matching his season-long outing in game two at Villanova, without allowing a run. He allowed just six hits and walked a pair, finishing with two strikeouts. Weber picked up the win, his fourth of the season, as Xavier took the 10-2 victory to secure the series win.

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Danny Barbero, Butler, Jr., INF
In a 2-2 week, Barbero recorded seven hits, scored six runs and walked four times. Five of his seven hits went for extra bases with the BU slugger coming up with three doubles and two homers. He slugged 1.067 and held a .579 on-base percentage.
Nate Rosser, Butler, Sr., RHP
Rosser made two appearances at Georgetown, ending the weekend with four strikeouts over four innings. He limited the Hoyas to just two hits over the four innings and was credited with the win in Sunday’s clinching victory for the weekend series.
Tyler Minick, UConn, So., INF
Helping extend the Huskies win streak to eight games with another 4-0 week, Minick batted .538 with seven hits, six RBI and six runs scored.
Matt Scherman, Creighton, Gr., 3B
Scherrman led the Bluejays to a sweep of rival St. John's, hitting .600 (6-for-10) with seven RBI and three runs scored versus the Red Storm. Scherrman delivered three RBI in each of the first two games, including a three-run home run that put the Bluejays ahead in game two.
Isaac Wachsmann, Xavier, Jr., DH
Wachsmann posted a slash line of .462/.563/.846 through a 4-0 week for the Musketeers. He batted .545 for the series against Villanova, recording six hits, including three for extra bases
