Xavier, Butler Collect BIG EAST Weekly Golf Awards

NEW YORK – Darrelyn Webster of Xavier and Derek Tabor of Butler were named BIG EAST Golfers of the Week.  Webster finished with a 1-under par total of 215 for the Musketeers at the Lady Paladin Invitational, while Tabor led the way for the Bulldogs at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational with a 9-under par score of 201.

BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week

Darrelyn Webster, Xavier, Jr.

Webster led the Musketeers at the 51st annual Lady Paladin Invitational, held at Furman University in Greenville, S.C...She registered a 54-hole score of 215, finishing 1-under par for the tournament...Her best round came during the second round of competition, firing a 4-under 68...she registered nine birdies and 37 pars over the three rounds of play.

BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week

Derek Tabor, Butler, Sr.
Tabor tied for third overall, firing a 9-under par 201 at the Earl Yestingsmeyer Invitational, held at Ball State...He fired a final round 65 (-5), registering six birdies to tie for the low round of the day...Tabor led the field in par 4 scoring, going 8-under on those holes throughout the tournament...he posted 15 birdies and 34 pars.

Women's Notes - Providence competed in its first-ever women's golf tournament, placing 14th at the Red Bandanna Invitational in Canton, Mass...Gwendolyn Yarnall led the Friars, tying for 40th place (237)...Butler was sixth at the Red Bandanna Invite, led by Kelli Scheck who finished tied for 31st place (234)...Xavier finished tied for fifth at the Lady Paladin Invitational...Since the start of the 2022-23 season, the Musketeers have now posted 15 top five finishes, with five tournament titles and four runner-up finishes...Georgia Ruffolo was the top Georgetown finisher at the Nittany Lion Invitational, tying for 11th place (220, +4)...The Hoyas were among three BIG EAST teams to compete in the tournament, along with St. John's and Seton Hall...Lily Hyunh led St. John's, tying for 23rd place while the Red Storm tied for 13th place...Renee Rane led SHU (t41st) as the Pirates posted their best team round score of the season (307) in the third round.

Men’s Notes – David Lally and Will Hennessee were the top finishers for Seton Hall at The Goat, held at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course...the Pirates' duo tied for fourth place with an aggregate score of 214, helping SHU finish third as a team (866)...Two other BIG EAST squads - Connecticut and Georgetown - were among the 16-team field at The Goat...UConn placed fourth overall (871), led by Connor Goode's 10th place tie overall (216, +3); he posted a second round 69 (-2)...the Hoyas tied for seventh as a team (880) and were led by Barnes Blake's second place finish (210, -3)...Blake was one of three golfers to play under par for the tournament...Butler placed second at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invite, with a 24-under par score of 816...Four Bulldogs' golfers placed among the top 20 individually...Villanova and Providence were among the field at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial at Wethersfield C.C...Ryan Pamer tied for third place (140, -2) to lead the Wildcats to a fourth place team finish...Campbell Skelly tied for fifth place individually (141, -1), as the Friars finished in a tie for sixth place as a team...Grant Feldman of Creighton logged his sixth straight top 20 finish at the Git-R-Done Invitational in Lincoln, Neb...Feldman tied for 18th (214), leading the Bluejays to a 10th place finish on the team leaderboard...Skelly finished tied for fifth overall as the Friars tied for sixth among the 16-team field....Xavier and DePaul competed at the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wisc....Xavier was seventh overall as a team (841), as Kellen Dean placed 12th (214, -2)...For DePaul, Dominic Lucchesi logged a collegiate low score (67) in the second round, helping the Blue Demons finish in 13th place as a team (896).
