HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Xavier captured its first-ever BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship, using a stellar final round to move to the top of the team leaderboard at the Riverton Point Golf and Country Club. Runners-up from a season ago, the Musketeers finished with a 21-under par total of 843 for the three-round, 54-hole championship, registering team scores of 283 and 285 during Sunday's day of play before sealing the victory with a team total of 275 during on Monday.
Entering the final round, Xavier sat three shots off the lead before playing 13-under par over the final 18 holes of competition, securing the league's automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Golf Championship. All five Musketeer golfers finished par or better on Monday with three finishing the championship in red numbers.
Cayse Morgan of Xavier earned medalist honors, tying for the lowest 54-hole score to par in 20 years at the BIG EAST Championship. Morgan finished at 14-under with a total score of 202 (68-70-64), tying the previous low score set by Louisville's Derek Fathauer in 2006. Morgan also tied for the lowest round to par in conference championship history, with a 8-under 64. The newcomer from Cincinnati registered nine birdies - including an eagle on the par 5 7th hole during the final round.
Villanova's Ryan Pamer was runner-up, finishing with a 10-under par total of 206. After a first round 70 (-2), Pamer carded consecutive rounds of 68. He finished with 13 birdies, 38 pars, and a tournament-low three bogeys. A season ago, Pamer tied for seventh individually at the conference championship. Mischa Candinas from Marquette was third at 7-under 209 (70-71-68), while Creighton teammates Grant Feldman (71-69-70) and Owen Price (73-70-67) tied with a 6-under total of 210. In total, 17 golfers finished under par for the championship.
Marquette - the 2025 BIG EAST Champions - finished as runner-up this season, sitting four strokes back at 17-under par (282-283-282=847). Creighton was 8-under during Monday's final round, moving into third place at 12-under (285-287-280=852), while UConn (-8) was fourth as a team (286-285-285), and DePaul was fifth at 2-under (285-282-295).
St. John's finished in sixth place (863, -1), while Villanova and Georgetown tied for seventh (865, +1), Butler was ninth (868, +4), Seton Hall 10th (880, +13), and Providence was 11th (895, +31).
