BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Cody Malawsky, Denver, R-Jr., A (Maple Ridge, B.C.)
Malawsky posted his second hat trick of the season and the seventh of his career in a 15-9 win over Michigan. The redshirt junior posted five goals and dished out two assists, resulting in a seven-point performance. Malawsky opened the scoring just over four minutes into the opening period, before extending the lead to 4-1 with under two to play in the first quarter. He added three goals in the second half, along with two assists, to put the game out of reach.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Russel Overly, Denver, R-Jr., D (Atlanta, Ga.)
Overly led the defensive effort against Michigan over the weekend, collecting six ground balls securing change of possession, as well as causing a pair of turnovers. Tied at 5-5 at the halftime break, Overly and the Denver defense locked in allowing just four goals in the second half, including 0 in the fourth quarter to solidify the win.
BIG EAST Specialist of the Week
Jake Melchionni, Villanova, Jr., LSM (Bernardsville, N.J.)
Melchionni impressed again to collect Specialist of the Week honors for the second straight week. He reached a new career high with 10 ground balls in a 12-7 road win over Delaware. The New Jersey native also added his first goal of the year, as well as causing a turnover to provide an all-around effort for the 'Cats. He leads the BIG EAST in both ground balls and caused turnovers per game.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Jake Bickel, Georgetown, Fr., M (Berwyn, Pa.)
Bickel tallied three points in a 10-9 setback against No. 9/10 Ohio State. He registered a pair of goals and dished out an assist, the first points of his collegiate career. He had six shots and four shots on goal in the contest.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Rory Connor, Georgetown, Gr., A
Conor scored three goals and collected an assist in the setback against Ohio State on Saturday. It marked the third hat trick in as many games to kick off the season.
Cam Sterritt, Providence, So., G
Sterritt had 12 saves on a .600 save percentage, along with three ground balls and a caused turnover against Fairfield.
Tucker Mullen, Marquette, Jr., A
Mullen posted four goals, two assists and three ground balls in a 1-1 week for the Golden Eagles.
Adrian Nowak, St. John’s, Sr., FOS
Nowak scored five goals on six shots, to go with two ground balls on Saturday against Lafayette.
Luke Raymond, Villanova, So., G
Raymond led the attack for the Wildcats in a 12-7 win, scoring three goals and dishing out an assist. He added three ground balls in the triumph.
