BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Rory Connor, Georgetown, Gr., A (Manhasset, N.Y.)
Connor contributed seven points in a setback against second-ranked Richmond on Saturday. The graduate attacker scored six goals and added an assist to lead the Hoya offense. It marked his fourth straight hat trick in as many games in his first season at Georgetown. He has already amassed 20 goals and three assists to open the season, leading the nation with 5.00 goals per game.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Brady Nicholas, Marquette, So., D (Baltimore, Md.)
Nicholas set a new career mark in a 21-12 win over Mercer on Saturday. Entering the game with one goal in his collegiate career, the sophomore defender posted his first career hat trick to help the Marquette offense surpass 20 goals for the game, the third most in program history. Defensively, he collected a pair of ground balls in the nine-goal triumph.
BIG EAST Specialist of the Week
Jake Melchionni, Villanova, Jr., LSM (Bernardsville, N.J.)
Melchionni impressed again to collect Specialist of the Week honors for the third straight week. He caused six turnovers in 1-1 week for the Wildcats, while also contributing seven ground balls. He posted a team-best six ground balls in a win over Drexel, in addition to his season high four caused turnovers. Against Penn he caused a pair of turnovers and collected a ground ball.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Kessy Cox, Villanova, Fr., M (Radnor, Pa.)
Cox was the team’s leading scorer in a 1-1 week, posting five points on three goals and two assists. The first-year contributed his best performance as a collegian with a hat trick and a helper in the 11-10 victory at Drexel, then added an assist against Pennsylvania. The midfielder
from Radnor now has 10 points on the year, including three multi-point outings and an assist in
each of the last four contests.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Charlie McGurrin, Georgetown, Sr., D
Credited with one caused turnover and added six ground balls in a 14-10 loss at Richmond.
Rhett Chambers, Providence, Jr., A
Chambers had a historic day to open the week with a win over Merrimack on Monday. He tallied three goals and dished out seven assists in the 16-9 win. For the week he had three goals and eight assists in a 1-1 week.
Mike Piraino, Marquette, Sr., D
Mullen posted four goals, two assists and three ground balls in a 1-1 week for the Golden Eagles.
Nolan Rappis, Marquette, Gr., A
Rappis tallied three goals and dished out two assists, to register a team-high five points in Saturday’s win.
Mitch Campbell, St. John’s, So., A
Campbell tallied a hat trick against Bryant, along with collecting two ground balls.
Jack Shoemaker, Villanova, Sr., D
Shoemaker tied for a team-best seven ground balls in the split week, adding a pair of caused turnovers.
