DePaul, Georgetown, St. John’s, Xavier Advance to 2026 BIG EAST Men’s Tennis Semifinals

CAYCE, S.C. – The top four seeded teams picked up victories in the 2026 BIG EAST Men’s Tennis quarterfinals to advance to Saturday’s semifinals at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center. Men’s competition will begin at 9 a.m. ET followed by the women’s semifinals at 1 p.m. ET.

#1 St. John’s, 4 vs. #8 Villanova, 0
St. John’s defeated Villanova, 4-0, and will face Georgetown in Saturday’s semifinals. The Red Storm claimed the doubles point behind victories on the first and second courts from Danilo Raicevic/Radomir Tomic (def. Ethan Carr/Cooper Gordon, 6-2) and Mats Pottbecker/Sergej Zivkovic (def. Kush Anand/Thomas Wakefield, 6-1).

Tomic, Semen Agynskyy, and Venedikt Tsirikidze contributed straight-set victories in singles play. Tomic defeated Gordon (6-1, 6-0) on the top court. Agynskyy overcame Will Monahan (6-1, 6-0) at No. 3 singles and Tsirikidze defeated Anand (6-0, 6-3) at No. 5.

#2 DePaul, 4 vs. #7 Marquette, 0
DePaul defeated Marquette, 4-0, and will meet Xavier in semifinal play. The Blue Demons were dominant in doubles competition, winning on the second and third courts. Sebastian Medica and Augusto Pardo Cano (No. 2) bested Remi St. Laurent and Luke Coppage, 6-2. Tomas Giles and Sven Moser (No. 3) defeated Kristian Blagoev and Marcos Vazquez, 6-1

Tobias Leitner, Andy Hadziabdic, and Moser picked up straight-set singles victories. Leitner defeated St. Laurent (6-3, 6-2) at No. 4 singles. Hadziabdic surpassed Coppage (6-4, 6-0) on the fifth court and Moser won over Hugh Perrill on the sixth (6-0, 6-1)

#3 Xavier, 4 vs. #6 Creighton, 3
Xavier fended off Creighton, 4-3, to advance to the semifinals where they will face DePaul. Creighton picked up the doubles point behind victories from Rocky McKenzie/Kirtan Patel (def. Nick Herdoiza/Andrew Spurck), 6-4, on the second court and Mathis Dahler/Zachary Kuo (def. Bode Campbell/Kyle Totorica), 6-2 on the third court.

Bode answered for the Musketeers on the fifth singles court, defeating Jack McMahon, 2-6, 6-0, 6-3. Alex Kotarski extended Xavier’s lead at No. 2 singles, overcoming McKenzie 6-1, 1-6, 6-4.

Kuo countered for Creighton, leveling the score with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 result at No. 4 singles (def. Spurck). Dahler delivered a straight-set victory over Max Pettingell [7-6 (5), 6-4] on the third court to regain the Bluejays’ lead. Xavier answered on the top court with Herdoiza defeating Patel, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.  

Freshman Lukas Grossman clinched the match for the Musketeers, coming from behind to defeat Lucas Mommessin, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 6 singles.

#4 Georgetown, 4 vs. #5 Butler, 1
Georgetown overcame Butler, 4-1, in quarterfinal action and will face St. John’s in the semifinals. The Bulldogs picked up the doubles point, winning on the first and second courts. On the top court, Riccardo Baldi and Rahulniket Konankanchi defeated Arthur O’Sullivan and Cyrus Zia, 6-4. At No. 2 doubles, Siddhartha Lama and Arnesh Singh defeated Joshua Lamm-Bocharov and James O’Sullivan, 7-5.

Georgetown answered in singles play, beginning with a straight set victory from Lamm-Bocharov on the third court (def. Nico Arts, 6-1, 6-1). Zia moved the Hoyas ahead on the sixth court, defeating Nicholas Shirley, 6-4, 6-1. Arthur O’Sullivan defeated Baldi [7-6 (3), 6-1] at No. 1 singles and Jacob Mann clinched the match at No. 5 singles, overcoming Lama, 7-6 (6), 7-5.
