CAYCE, S.C. – Top-seeded St. John’s defeated No. 2 DePaul, 4-1, to claim the 2026 BIG EAST Men’s Tennis title, marking the program’s second straight conference crown and the third in the last four years. Overall, the Red Storm are eight-time BIG EAST Champions.
St. John’s earned the BIG EAST’s automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship. They will learn their opponent and schedule during the NCAA Selection show on Monday, April 27 at 4:00 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.
Semen Agynskyy (SJU) was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Agynskyy contributed straight set victories in all three weekend matches, providing the clinching result on the third court in the semifinals. Additionally, he added a pair of tandem wins with partner Adam Groves at No. 3 doubles.
The Red Storm registered the doubles point behind victories on the first and third courts. No. 1 Danilo Raicevic and Radomir Tomic topped Sebastian Medica and Augusto Pardo Cano, 6-1. No. 3 Agynskyy and Groves defeated Thomas Giles and Sven Moser, 6-1.
Agynskyy logged the first singles victory of the morning, defeating Pablo Torres Almeida, 6-3, 6-3 (No. 3). Tomic followed on the top court, besting Alejandro Gandini, 6-4. 6-4.
The Blue Demons answered with a win at No. 2 singles (Medica def. David Petrovic, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3).
Venedikt Tsirikidze clinched the match on the fifth court, coming from behind to overcome Andy Hadziabdic, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
