Four Teams Share Final Regular Season MLAX Weekly Awards

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Richie Joseph, Providence, Sr., A (Longmeadow, Mass.)
in the season finale win to secure the No. 2 seed in the 2026 BIG EAST Championship Presented by Jeep, Joseph scored a season-high six goals and added an assist for a seven-point performance. Joseph contributed with the first two tallies of the game, dishing out an assist to Rhett Chambers in the opening minute, before scoring his first goal of the game to extend the lead to 2-0. Overall, he scored two goals in the opening half, before helping the Friars put the game out of reach in the second half with four goals.
 
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Grayson Manning, Denver, So., G (Victoria, British Columbia)
Manning did what he has done all season, acting as a brick wall in between the pipes in Friday’s win over Marquette. The sophomore goalie made 15 saves, including seven in the first quarter of the 10-9 win, securing a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament. Manning capped the contest with a .625 save percentage, continuing to lead the nation with a .616 save percentage. 

BIG EAST Specialist of the Week
Jake Melchionni, Villanova, Jr., LSM (Bernardsville, N.J.)
Melchionni had another impressive day between the lines, contributing a career-best five caused turnovers, in addition to a game-high seven ground balls against the Hoyas. Villanova’s lead LSM has now caused multiple turnovers in 10 different games this year and has scooped up more than five ground balls on seven occasions in his junior season.
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Chase Huggard, St. John’s, Fr., M (Vorhees, N.J.)
Despite a setback against Providence in the regular season finale, Huggard led the Red Storm with four goals and an assist, marking the fourth game of his freshman season with at least four points tallied. He caps his first season at St. John’s with 17 goals and eight assists.

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Cody Malawsky, Denver, R-Jr.., A
Malawsky broke an 8-8 tie with his fifth goal of the night with just 2:41 remaining, leading Denver to a 10-9 win over Marquette. The five individual goals tied both a season and career-high.
Luke Smeader, Denver, Jr., FOS 
Smeader went 12-for-19 with four ground balls to help Denver control the possession, winning seven straight in the first half.
Rory Connor, Georgetown, Gr., A
Connor poured in four goals, including the game-winner in Friday’s 9-6 win over Villanova to secure the top-seed in the tournament and the outright regular season title.
Anderson Moore, Georgetown, Jr., G
Moore collected 10 saves and finished with a .625 save percentage, to lead Georgetown to a victory. He capped the outing with two ground balls and a caused turnover.
Rhett Chambers, Providence, Jr., M
Chambers matched his teammate Joseph with seven points in Friday night’s win over St. John’s, wrapping up the outing with four goals and three assists.
