BIG EAST Player of the Week
Collin Quintano, Villanova, Sr., Utility (Easton, Pa.)
Quintano closed out his senior campaign with a bang in three-game series against UConn, hitting a pair of home runs and driving in six runs. He opened the series with a home run and a walk, driving in two runs and scoring twice. He capped the series and led the Wildcats to a win, batting 3-for-4 on Saturday, with two doubles, a walk and a home run, with four RBI and two more runs scored.
BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
JT Raab, Georgetown, Gr., RHP (Seaford, N.Y.)
in Saturday’s series clinching win against Seton Hall, Raab put on a show striking out a career-high 13 batters in seven innings of work. The righty earned his third win of the season, allowing just six hits and no runs in a 7-2 victory.
Honor Roll
Charlie Schebler, Butler, Jr., INF
Schebler tallied two or more hits in each game this weekend against St. John’s, highlighted by a 4-for-5 performance at the plate in the series opening win. The junior had a perfect fielding percentage, to go along with a .692 on base percentage.
Cayden Suchy, UConn, So., LHP
Suchy pitched six scoreless innings against Villanova, allowing just four hits and striking out three in an 8-0 win.
Teddy Deters, Creighton, Sr., OF
Deters hit a game-winning home run in the top of the ninth in the opening game against Xavier, played at the home of the Cincinnati Reds, Great American Ballpark. Overall, he hit two home runs, had six hits and collected five RBI in a four-game week.
Jayder Raifstanger, St. John’s, Jr., INF
Raifstanger started in all three games against Butler, slashing .462/.500/.769. The weekend was highlighted by a 4-for-5 performance on Friday, collecting a double and a home run, and driving in a career-high six runs.
Luke Hammond, Xavier, Gr., 3B
Hammond led the Musketeers with a .545 average at the plate, leading the team with three RBI, in a series win over Creighton.
