Xavier Sweeps 2025-26 BIG EAST Women's Golf Major Awards

Seven named to the All-BIG EAST team for their outstanding play this past season

NEW YORK – Xavier swept the 2025-26 BIG EAST Women's Golf awards, as senior Madison Reemsnyder was named Player of the Year while newcomer Ashley Kirkland was named Freshman of the Year.  Head coach Stephanie Young and her staff were honored as BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year.  The seven-member All-BIG EAST Team was also named, including four repeat selections from a season ago.  The major awards and all-conference teams were selected in a vote by the league's seven head coaches.

Reemsnyder, a senior from Canton, Ohio, was the 2026 BIG EAST individual champion, using a tournament low 67 in the final round to secure medalist honors.  She was the 2025 conference runner-up.  She leads the Musketeers in stroke average, at 71.7 (30 total rounds).  She has won her last two tournaments, winning the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational on April 17-18 during her final regular season start.  Reemsnyder - the 2023 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and three-time All-BIG EAST selection - sits just outside the top 100 players nationally and has posted three top-five and five top-10 finishes this season.

Kirkland enjoyed a successful season in her first year of collegiate golf.  The freshman from Newburgh, Ind., registered a 75.5 scoring average in nine total starts and 27 total rounds of play.  She finished 20th at the BIG EAST Championship.  Her best finish of the season came during the fall slate, tying for eighth place with a 2-under total of 214 at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate at the University of Denver GC in October.

The Xavier coaching staff, led by head coach Stephanie Young, was selected as the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year.  In her first season at the helm of the Musketeers, Young guided Xavier to its seventh consecutive conference crown on April 25-27 at the Callawassie Island Club.  Xavier will compete next in the Louisville regional of the NCAA Championship in Simpsonville, Ky. from May 11-13.

In addition to Reemsnyder, six golfers earned All-BIG EAST Team honors for the 2025-26 season.

Butler's Treva Dodd finished fifth at the 2026 BIG EAST Championship.  A three-time BIG EAST Golfer of the Week, the sophomore from Brookfield, Wis. led the Bulldogs in scoring average (75.0) while recording two victories and five top-five finishes.

Morgan Becker of Creighton led the Bluejays in scoring average (76.6) over 27 total rounds and nine tournaments. Becker was Creighton's top finisher in five events this season.  She tied for 21st at the BIG EAST Championship and registered one top-five finish.

Georgetown's Georgia Ruffolo - the 2025 BIG EAST Golfer of the Year - ranks first on the Hoyas in stroke average, at 74.8 in 27 total rounds and nine starts.  She was fourth at the BIG EAST Championship and is a three-time all-conference honoree.

Kelly Wu of St. John's was a two-time BIG EAST Golfer of the Week.  She earned medalist honors during the fall season and finished fifth at the BIG EAST Championship.  Her 75.9 scoring average led the Red Storm this season.

Seton Hall's Marta Aguilar was a two-time medalist and three-time BIG EAST Golfer of the Week in 2025-26.  The conference's Freshman of the Year a season ago, the sophomore captured two tournaments during the spring and posted three top-five - and five top 10 finishes - while recording a team-best 73.9 scoring average in nine starts (27 rounds).  She tied for seventh at the BIG EAST Championship.

Isabel Brozena from Xavier was the runner-up at the 2026 BIG EAST Championship.  The sophomore ranks second on the Musketeers with a 72.6 scoring average.  She was a two-time winner this season - at the Valspar Augusta Invitational on March 15 and the WMU Rio Verde Invite on Feb. 22 - while recording four top five finishes.
