EUGENE, Ore. – The 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field, hosted by the University of Oregon, concluded on Saturday, with three BIG EAST athletes earning Second Team All-America accolades.
 
In the women’s discus final, St. John’s Jamora Alves placed 14^th with a distance of 54.95 meters. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase final, Georgetown’s Barrett Justema crossed the finish line in 9:53.46 to secure a 10th-place finish.
 
Rounding out the weekend for BIG EAST competitors, UConn’s Maresa Hense saved her best for last, finishing first in the 800-meter final to close out the heptathlon. Overall, the sophomore finished 10^th with a personal-best 5,872 points in the event.
 
Over the course of the four days at the NCAA Championships, BIG EAST student-athletes excelled collecting four First-Team All-America accolades and eight Second Team honors.
 
UConn’s Joshua Mooney placed eighth in the decathlon, Creighton’s Trinity Shadd-Ceres finished sixth in the long jump, Georgetown’s Jaden Marchan crossed the finish line in seventh place of the 400-meter final, and Villanova’s Marco Langon collected the ninth All-America accolade of his career with a fourth-place finish in the 5,000-meter.
 
Butler’s William Zegarski (10,000m), DePaul’s Alex Bernstein (hammer throw), UConn’s Maresa Hense (heptathlon), Georgetown’s Barrett Justema (3,000m steeplechase), Tinoda Matsata (800m) and Charlotte Tomkinson (1,500m), Providence’s Maeve O’Neill (800m) and St. John’s Jamora Alves (discus) each collected Second-Team All-America honors with top 16 finishes.
