Hughes scored a goal in each Friar win last week as Providence won at Villanova on Thursday, 1-0, and at home against Marquette on Sunday, 3-1. Hughes provided the 107
th minute golden goal against the Wildcats, before getting Providence on the board in the 12
th minute against the Golden Eagles. She fired off a BIG EAST-high 12 shots last week, leading PC to a 36-12 advantage in shots against its opponents.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Sydney Cummings, Georgetown, Grad., D
The Cummings-led Hoyas defense secured shutouts against two of the top teams in the BIG EAST standings last week, including then-first-place Butler. The Bulldogs and St. John’s were each limited to three shots on goal apiece as Georgetown blanked both, 1-0. Cummings also helped secure the win against Butler on Thursday by scoring the game-winning goal in the 89
th minute – her second of the season and first of the game-winning variety.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Allie Augur, Georgetown, Jr., GK
Augur scored back-to-back shutouts against two of the top teams in the BIG EAST standings. The junior made three saves in each contest as the Hoyas defeated Butler and St. John’s by 1-0 margins. Augur leads the BIG EAST in save percentage (.857) and goals against average (0.46), while listing second in solo shutouts with seven.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Chloe Netzel, Xavier, Fr., F
In Xavier’s 2-0-0 week, Netzel played a part in both game-winning goals. The rookie forward assisted on Ella Rogers’ game winner against St. John’s on Thursday, before scoring the game-winning goal in the 12
th minute of a 4-0 victory at Seton Hall on Sunday. Netzel leads Xavier with 12 points off five goals and two assists on the year, with three of her five scores being game winners.

MaryKate Ward, UConn, Fr., GK – seven-save shutout in first career start on Thursday against Marquette; added nearly 14 minutes of scoreless action at DePaul on Sunday
Morgan Turner, DePaul, Grad., F – second-straight multi-goal game with two scores in a 3-0 win at Seton Hall on Thursday
Emma Bodmer, Providence, So., GK – went 2-0-0 on the week with an .857 save percentage and 0.46 GAA; earned wins at Villanova and against Marquette
Brice McInroy, Villanova – led the Wildcats to their first BIG EAST win of the year, providing the game-winning goal in the 86
th minute against Creighton on Sunday
Grace Brauer, Xavier, Sr., D – led the XU defense which scored back-to-back shutout wins last week; Musketeers outshot St. John’s and Seton Hall 41-12, including 19-5 on goal
