BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Katie Soderstrom, Butler, R-Jr., M
Soderstrom helped the Bulldogs close non-league play on a seven-match winning streak after erupting for seven points in Butler’s non-conference finale win over Western Michigan. The redshirt-junior tallied three goals and an assist as the Bulldogs won 5-0 on Thursday. It marked her second career hattrick and fourth career multi-goal match. She now has eight goals this season and 24 for her career which ties her for eighth on Butler's career list.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Grace Phillpotts, DePaul, So., D
Phillpotts anchored a DePaul defense which scored its third shutout of the season, a 3-0 win over Eastern Illinois on Saturday. The Blue Demons outshot EIU 15-5, including 6-3 on goal, while holding a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Phillpotts also sparked the offense with a pair of assists, earning helpers in the 51
st and 68
th minutes.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Emma Bodmer, Providence, So., GK
Bodmer had a BIG EAST weekly high eight saves on Thursday as the Friars defeated crosstown rival Brown, 2-1. After surrendering a goal in the 17
th minute, Bodmer held steady the final 73 as the Friars rallied with two second-half goals to stun the Bears. Bodmer had four saves per half. No other winning BIG EAST goalkeeper last week had more than three saves.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Kate Gibson, Marquette, Fr., F
Gibson scored the 106
th minute golden goal for Marquette on Friday, giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 win over North Dakota State to close out non-conference play. It marked Gibson’s first collegiate goal. She also posted a career-best six shots.
