NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference announced its spring Olympic sports national television schedule on Thursday. A total of 18 events across men’s and women’s lacrosse, baseball and softball will air to a national audience, with FS1, FS2 and CBS Sports Network selecting contests during both the regular season and conference postseason. BIG EAST broadcast partner FOX Sports will carry 12 contests, including the championship games of women’s lacrosse, softball and baseball.
In addition to the national television slate, the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi available on FloSports will produce more than 40 events. Combined with school-produce competitions, FloSports will carry upwards of 250 BIG EAST events this spring.
FOX Sports selected five regular-season games to highlight, beginning on April 9 when Villanova hosts Denver in men’s lacrosse. Opening faceoff on FS1 is set for 1 p.m. ET. Softball coverage follows on April 15 when Providence travels to Connecticut, with first pitch on FS1 slated for 7:30 p.m. Baseball coverage follows on April 18 when Creighton hosts Arizona. First pitch on FS1 will be 7 p.m. FS1 will also air the Xavier at Connecticut regular-season baseball game, scheduled for May 13 at 7 p.m. Rounding out regular-season FOX Sports coverage is the April 29 women’s lacrosse regular-season finale between UConn and Georgetown, set for 6:30 p.m. on FS2.
FOX Sports postseason coverage begins on May 7 with the title game of the BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Championship. Denver will serve as host of this year’s tournament, with the final set for FS2 at 2 p.m. The BIG EAST Softball Championship follows on FS2, with the semifinals on May 13 at noon and 3 p.m. FS2 coverage continues on Championship Saturday at noon on May 14, with the if-necessary game scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The softball tournament is returning to Rosemont, Ill., where it was held 2014-19. FOX Sports’ spring championship coverage concludes on May 29 at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio, with baseball’s championship Sunday. The final is slated for noon on FS2, with the if-necessary game scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Jeep is the presenting sponsor for all 22 of the BIG EAST Championships.
CBS Sports Network has selected a trio of regular-season contests as well, beginning with St. John’s at DePaul softball on April 16 at 2:30 p.m. The men’s lacrosse matchup between Georgetown and Loyola (Md.) on April 19 at 6:30 p.m. will also air on CBS Sports Network. Additionally, CBS Sports Network will cover Game 2 of the Arizona-Creighton baseball series, slated for April 19 at 9 p.m.
For the fourth consecutive year, CBS Sports Network will provide coverage of the BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Championship. Georgetown will serve as host of this year’s tournament, with the semifinals on May 5 set for 5:30 and 8:30 p.m., followed by the final on May 7 at 4:30 p.m.
BEDN on FloSports coverage includes both regular-season and postseason competitions. Among the 43 events slated for BEDN are the opening round games of the BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse, Softball and Baseball Championships, as well as comprehensive coverage of the BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships. BEDN will also stream the title matches of the BIG EAST Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships.
Notable regular-season games streaming on BEDN include a rematch of the last two seasons’ women’s lacrosse title games between Denver and Georgetown (April 15), a showdown of the top two teams in the BIG EAST softball preseason poll when Villanova travels to DePaul (April 2), a regular-season finale meeting between Villanova and reigning men’s lacrosse champion Georgetown (April 29), and a battle of the top two teams in the BIG EAST baseball preseason poll when Creighton travels to UConn (May 6). In total, 29 regular-season games and 14 postseason competitions will stream on BEDN. With the addition of school-produced content, FloSports will house upwards of 250 BIG EAST events this spring.
In addition to live events, the BIG EAST Digital Network also produces original content available on FloSports and on the Conference’s social media channels. Included in that lineup is the Conference’s weekly Olympic Sports features show, “The Scoop,” hosted by Meghan Caffrey and John Fanta.
