BIG EAST Male Singles Player of the Week

Xavier’s Diego Nava earns his third BIG EAST Male Singles Player of the Week nod of the season. The graduate helped the Musketeers pick up a 4-3 victory over Butler on Friday afternoon. Nava took down Butler’s Thomas Brennan at the No. 1 singles slot, 7-6 (3), 6-7 (4), 4-6. The win improved Xavier’s record to 3-0 in BIG EAST play this season.
BIG EAST Female Singles Player of the Week
Ahmeir Kyle, Xavier, Gr. (St. Joseph, Mich.)
Xavier’s Ahmeir Kyle helped lead the Musketeers to a 7-0 win over Butler last Friday. The graduate earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Butler’s Natalie Boesing in No. 1 singles en route to Xavier’s victory. The Musketeers have now won four of their last five matches as they conclude their regular season with a pair of BIG EAST matches this weekend against Marquette and DePaul.
BIG EAST Male Doubles Team of the Week
Ignacio Garcia (R-Sr., San Juan, Puerto Rico) and Axel Vila Antuna (Jr., Valencia, Spain), St. John’s
Ignacio Garcia and Axel Vila Antuna earn BIG EAST Male Doubles Team of the Week after another strong showing in the No. 1 singles position. The duo took down Marquette’s Fran San Andres/Rami Scheetz 6-2 to help lead the Red Storm to a 4-3 win.

Jayden Nielsen (R-Jr., Vancouver, Canada) and Yesica de Lucas (Gr., Alcala de Henares, Spain), St. John’s
St. John’s No. 1 doubles tandem of Jayden Nielsen and Yesica de Lucas continue to collect victories, earning two more this past week to earn BIG EAST Female Doubles Team of the Week. The weekend started with a 6-0 win over Natalija Popovic/Emilija Kojicic of Marquette on Friday as part of the Red Storm’s 6-1 win. On Sunday, the duo defeated Yuliya Kizelbasheva/Lenka Antonijevic of DePaul 7-5.
