Creighton, Seton Hall, Villanova Advance to 2026 BIG EAST Women’s Tennis Quarterfinals

CAYCE, S.C. – With victories in the first round of the 2026 BIG EAST Women’s Tennis Championship presented by JEEP, Creighton, Seton Hall, and Villanova advance to Friday’s quarterfinals. Women’s action will kick off at 1 p.m., after the men’s quarterfinals at 9 a.m. ET.

#6 Villanova, 4 vs. #11 Providence, 0
Villanova defeated Providence, 4-0, beginning with victories on the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles courts. Jenna Stevens and Lauren Monti (No. 2) bested Sophie Alberg and Camila Barrera, 6-3, while Olivia Corcoran and Miriam Gondorova (No. 3) defeated Audrey Magnusen and Gabriella Plonowski, 6-1.

Corcoran, Stevens, and Lauren Monti registered straight set wins in the singles competition to secure the team victory. On the top singles court, Corcoran defeated Barrerra, 6-0, 6-1. At No. 4, Stevens overcame Ahlberg (6-1, 6-1) while Monti bested Beltran (6-1, 6-0) on the sixth court.

#7 Creighton, 4 vs. #10 Butler, 1
Creighton held off Butler, 4-1, kicking off competition with essential doubles wins. On the second tandem court, Alem Cote and Annika Elvestrom defeated Sienna Miles and Sophie Parr, 6-3. Butler countered at No. 3 doubles with a win from Lauren Cook and Jordan Schildcrout (6-4), however, the Bluejays secured the doubles point on the top court behind a 7-6 victory from Sophie Schwartz and Ana Paula Martinez over Chase Metcalf and Brooke Arington.

Arington (BU) answered with a straight set victory over Martinez on the second singles court (6-3, 6-4). Creighton regained the lead on the sixth singles court with a 6-3, 6-2 win from Livia Rodrigues Daud over Schildcrout. Elvestrom defeated Cook 7-6 (1), 6-1 on the fourth court, opening the door for Cote to clinch the match at No. 5 singles (def. Elle Martin, 7-5, 6-2).

#8 Marquette, 0 vs. #9 Seton Hall, 4
Seton Hall upset Marquette with a 4-0 victory that began with the doubles point. At No. 2 doubles, Kira Farrakhova and Isabelle May defeated Maria Poon and Elena Duva, 6-1. At No. 3 doubles, Ellie Coe and Jaden Davidson surpassed Luciana Mendoza and Aiyana Abbott, 6-2.

Davidson, May, and Anastasia Sereda secured straight set victories to send the Pirates to the quarterfinals. Davidson defeated Emma Davis (7-5, 6-2) at No. 2 singles. Sereda bested Poon (6-0, 6-4) on the third court and May overcame Abbott (6-3, 6-3) at No. 4 singles.
