Brackets Set for 2022 BIG EAST Tennis Championship

St. John’s women and men claim the top seeds.

NEW YORK – The seeds and schedule have been set for the 2022 BIG EAST Men's and Women's Tennis Championship Presented by Jeep, which will take place Thursday, April 21 through Sunday, April 24 at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C. St. John’s claimed the top seed on both the men’s and women’s side.

Seeds are determined by the conference’s tennis championship and coaches’ seeding advisory committees that review each team's regular-season schedule, ITA rankings, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.

The women will kick off the tournament on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. ET with a trio of first round matches. No. 8 seed Villanova will face off with No. 9 seed UConn, a match that will run simultaneous to No. 6 seed Georgetown facing No. 11 seed Providence and No. 7 seed Creighton going against No. 10 seed Seton Hall.

The men’s side of the bracket gets underway on Friday at 9 a.m. with quarterfinal action. No. 1 St. John’s faces No. 8 Villanova, while No. 2 DePaul squares off with No. 7 Creighton and No. 3 Xavier battles No. 6 Marquette. The final men’s quarterfinal begins at 12:45 p.m. with No. 4 Butler facing No. 5 Georgetown.

Women’s quarterfinal play will begin on Friday afternoon, with the top two seeds in action beginning at 12:45 p.m. Top-seeded St. John’s will face the winner of the Villanova-UConn match, while No. 2 seed Marquette will take on the winner of Creighton-Seton Hall. The final two women’s quarterfinal matches begin at 4:30 p.m., with No. 3 seed Xavier taking on the winner of Georgetown-Providence and No. 4 DePaul going up against No. 5 Butler.

Saturday’s action commences at 9 a.m. with the two concurrent semifinals for the men, followed by the two women’s semifinal matches at 1 p.m.

The championship will conclude on Sunday as the men’s final will take place at 9 a.m. and the women’s final slated for 1 p.m. Both the men’s and women’s finals will be streamed live on the BIG EAST Digital Network Presented by SoFi on FloSports.
