BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Jarel Terry, DePaul, Gr., Sprints
Terry had a statement performance at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite this past weekend as he broke his previous school record and earned first place in the men's 300-meters with his new time of 34.06 seconds. The graduate sprinter was able to surpass his previous record and win the event by mere milliseconds in the closely contested dash.
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Kyle Johnson, UConn, Fr., Jumps
At the UConn Husky Challenge, Johnson took first place in the triple jump at 15.43m, the seventh-best mark in school history. The first-year’s performance is the best of all BIG EAST jumpers and is the seventh-best nationally to begin the indoor season.
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Jailya Ash, UConn, Jr., Hurdles
Ash placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.27 seconds at the UConn Husky Challenge. For the junior it was a personal best, as well as the second-fastest mark in school history. Her time places first in the BIG EAST and ranks fifth in the country.
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Annika Bynum, Marquette, Jr., Jumps
Bynum shined at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite, taking first place in the high jump at 1.76m. Her height tied her personal record, which is second all-time for the program. The junior has the best mark in the BIG EAST and sits 17
th nationally.
Notable Performances
- Butler’s Liam Dennis claimed the gold in the 1,000-meters at the Indiana Early Bird Meet on Friday night; Crossed the finish line at 2:28.15 to set a new personal best
- DePaul’s Alex Bernstein took home gold and earned a new personal best in the men's weight throw with a final distance of 20.21m at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite; He currently ranks 15th in the nation
- DePaul’s Nadja Moll took home gold in the women's 400-meters with a final time of 56.43 seconds at DePaul's Blue Demon Holiday Invite; She currently ranks 21st in the nation in the women's 400-meters
- DePaul’s Billie Martin took home her second consecutive first place finish in the women's weight throw with a final distance of 19.48m at DePaul's Blue Demon Holiday Invite
- Marquette’s Daylee Braden set a program record in the 600-meters with a time of 1:32.44 to place first at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite; She also ran as part of the 4x400 relay team that placed fourth, with her 57.5 second split being first on the team
