BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Medwin Odammten, UConn, Jr.
Odammten placed second in both the 100m preliminaries (10.42) and finals (10.45) at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. His time of 10.42 ranks fifth in program history and is tied for 28th nationally.
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Claire Dunn, DePaul, Jr.
Dunn finished fourth in the 400m on Saturday with a time of 54.02, ranking No. 23 nationally and first in the BIG EAST. She also leads the conference in the 200m with a mark of 23.96.
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Alex Bernstein, DePaul, Gr.
Bernstein opened his outdoor season with a personal-best hammer throw of 68.00m at the Black & Gold Invitational on March 20. The mark ranks fifth nationally and first in the BIG EAST this season.
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Jaiah Hopf, DePaul, Sr.
Hopf finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 12.45m at the Black & Gold Invitational, ranking No. 21 nationally and at the top of the BIG EAST. She also placed sixth in the long jump with 5.94m.
Notable Performances
- Butler freshman Anna Niebrugge broke the school record in the 100-meter sprint with a time of 11.65, earning first place at the Blizzard Buster in Ohio.
- UConn’s Marshall Potter helped the Huskies win the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, taking first in the hammer with 60.59m, discus with 51.55m, and shot put with 18.11m.
- UConn’s Brooklyn Taylor won the 100m hurdles at the Shamrock Invitational with a time of 13.74, the seventh best in program history.
- DePaul’s Tyce Smith ran a season-best 47.49 in the 400m at the Black & Gold Invitational on Saturday, the top mark in the BIG EAST. He also posted 21.55 in the 200m on Friday, ranking second in the conference.
