Birhanu Harriman, Georgetown, Jr.
Harriman delivered a standout performance at the Raleigh Relays, capturing first place in the men’s 10,000 meters with a time of 28:24.74. His mark ranks No. 1 nationally this season.
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Sarah Trainor, UConn, Gr.
Trainor recorded a personal-best time of 10:04.84 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Raleigh Relays on Friday. Her performance ranks first in the BIG EAST and the Northeast region, fourth in the NCAA East Region and seventh nationally, while also standing as the second-fastest time in UConn program history.
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Alex Bernstein, DePaul, Gr.
Bernstein captured the hammer throw title at the Joyce Morton-Keif Invite with a mark of 67.38 meters. The graduate student has opened the outdoor season with back-to-back meet victories, following a season-best throw of 68.00 meters, which ranks eighth nationally and leads the BIG EAST.
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Katelyn Welsh, DePaul, Gr.
Welsh reset her own program record in the pole vault, clearing a lifetime-best 3.83 meters to finish runner-up at the Joyce Morton-Keif Invite. The mark leads the BIG EAST this season and ranks 41st in the West Region.
Notable Performances
- Butler’s William Zegarski placed third in the men’s 10,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 28:28.18, a mark that ranks third nationally this season.
- Butler’s Matthew Forrester placed 21st out of 206 in the men’s 5,000 meter with a time of 13:54.15, a mark that ranks 19th nationally.
- Creighton’s Natalee Gehred helped lead the Bluejays to a pair of school records at the Central Nebraska Challenge, running the second leg on the winning 4x400 relay team (3:56.34) and placing 11th in the 200 meters with a time of 26.04.
- Marquette’s Tommy Majchrowicz placed second in the javelin at the Joyce Morton-Kief Invitational with a personal-record throw of 56.50 meters, ranking eighth all-time in Marquette history.
- Marquette’s Riley Ward won the javelin at the Joyce Morton-Kief Invitational with a personal-record and school-record throw of 42.68 meters.
- Villanova’s Rosie Shay recorded a personal-best 4:14.19 in the 1500 meters at the Raleigh Relays, the fastest time by a Villanova runner in seven years, ranking No. 15 nationally and first in the BIG EAST this season.
