BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week
JJ Sillstrop, Denver, Sr., A (Encinitas, Calif.)
Tied a career-high with his third career five-goal game, including a first quarter hat trick to jump-start Denver’s 17-12 win over then-No. 15 Ohio State on Sunday. The milestone marked the third hat trick of the season for the senior, as well as the 13
th of his career.
BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week
Stephen Avery, Denver, Jr., M (Nashville, Tenn.)
Avery led Denver with seven goals in a 17-12 win over Ohio State. He recorded Denver's 24th sock trick in its Division I history, and was Denver's first of the season. The sock trick was also the 19th in the history of men's games at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. Avery was the first Pioneer to score seven goals since Ethan Walker netted eight at Villanova on April 6, 2018. Avery's seven goals tied for the third most in the program's Division I history.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Mason Woodward, Marquette, Sr., D (Towson, Md.)
Woodward led a dominant Marquette defensive effort against then-fifth-ranked Penn State by picking up a game-high seven ground balls and causing two turnovers. He helped hold Penn State to its second-lowest goal total of the season and to just nine goals prior to the final 51 seconds. Penn State had previously won three consecutive games against top-10 foes prior to Saturday’s game. The game marked the fifth time this season that Woodward picked up at least five ground balls.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Andrew Bowman, Marquette, Fr., M (Nanaimo, B.C.)
Bowman recorded his first career hat trick in Saturday’s win over Penn State. His first goal tied the game 5-5 late in the second quarter and his two third-quarter scores put MU ahead 9-7.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Brian Minicus, Georgetown, Gr., M
Scored a career-high six goals and added an assist – all in the first half – of a 22-10 victory over High Point. He had eight shots on the day and seven on cage, scoring six times. The Hoyas scored the most goals in a game against a non-conference opponent since a 25-12 win over Fairfield in 2020.
Will Bowen, Georgetown, Gr., D
Bowen was credited with four caused turnovers and added three ground balls in Georgetown’s 22-10 win over visiting High Point. The defender also added his first goal of the season.
Devon Cowan, Marquette, Sr., A
Cowan posted his third hat trick in as many games for the Golden Eagles. Cowan’s second score put MU ahead 3-2 early in the second quarter and his final tally sealed the victory with 1:18 remaining.
Matt Campbell, Villanova, Gr., M
Led the Wildcats with four goals and an assist in a 10-6 win over Monmouth, scoring the go-ahead goal midway through the first quarter and had a pair of goals and an assist during an 8-0 first half run when Villanova took control of the game.
Will Vitton, Villanova, Gr., G
Recorded his second highest save total of the season, registering 13 saves and allowing just six goals in a 10-6 win over Monmouth.
