Georgetown and Denver Collect #BIGEASTmlax Weekly Honors

BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week
Jacob Kelly, Georgetown, Gr., A (Towson, Md.)
Kelly moved up from playing midfield, making his first start at attack this season, scoring three goals and dishing out three assists in Georgetown’s win over Providence. He netted the eventual game-winning goal, and his final tally of the game, with 6:58 remaining in the third quarter. Kelly also collected nine ground balls in the win.

BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week
James Reilly, Georgetown, Gr., FO (Berwyn, Pa.)
Continuously getting the Georgetown offense rolling, Reilly won 17 of 21 faceoffs in a 13-11 win over Providence. Overall, he collected 15 ground balls for the second time this year, tied for the fifth most by a player this season. On the year, the native of Berwyn, Pa., ranks third in the nation with 10.00 ground balls per game. In the contests, Reilly and his teammate Kelly combined for 24 of Georgetown’s 63 ground balls in the game, the most a team in Division I this season. Offensively, Reilly found the back of the net twice.

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Jack DiBenedetto, Denver, Sr., D (Buffalo, N.Y.)
DiBenedetto anchored Denver’s defense to a top-10 home win, limiting then-No. 9 Villanova to just 18 shots on goal in a 12-6 win. Overall, he led the Pioneer defense that combined to hold the 25th-best scoring offense in the nation 7.5 goals below its average. Individually, the senior caused three turnovers in addition to drawing the top defensive assignments. Overall, he limited his assigned opponent to shoot 0-for-6, with just one shot on goal.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Patrick Crogan, Georgetown, Fr., M (Lexington, Mass.)
Crogan registered two goals in Saturday’s conference victory, first finding the back of the net midway through the second quarter to place Georgetown in front 8-4. The freshman later added the final goal of the day for Georgetown, as the Hoyas took a commanding 13-8 lead with 11:31 remaining in the contest.

Richie Connell, Denver, Sr., A
Scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Pioneers with three points in their conference home win over then-No. 9 Villanova on Saturday.
Bobby O’Grady, Marquette, So., A
O’Grady recorded a game-high four goals in Marquette’s 20-10 win over St. John’s on Saturday. It was his sixth hat trick this season and 12th of his career.
Ryan Bell, Providence, So., M
Led all BIG EAST players with seven points in a narrow 13-11 loss against then-No. 10 Georgetown on Saturday. Capped the afternoon with two goals and five assists.
