Connecticut and Seton Hall Earn #BIGEASTbase Weekly Honors

BIG EAST Player of the Week
Devin Hack, Seton Hall, OF, R-Jr. (Somerville, N.J.)
In a perfect 3-0 weekend, Hack batted 5-for-10 with a triple and a team best four runs scored. In a trio of wins over Creighton, the redshirt junior slugged .700 and had a .583 on-base percentage, reaching base on seven of his 12 plate appearances. In the series opening win, he went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, before closing out the series batting 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Defensively, he made eight putouts in center field and didn’t commit an error.
 
BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Zach Fogell, UConn, Gr., LHP (Cumberland, Ohio)
Fogell pitched a near perfect five innings in Friday’s opener against Butler, striking out nine batters in addition to no runs or walks allowed. The graduate student came out of the bullpen with the score even at 5-5, before leading the Huskies defensively to a 6-5 win in 13 innings. Two days later, Fogell pitched 0.2 innings without allowing an earned run.
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Scott Jones, Butler, Sr., OF
Garnering 11 hits on 25 at bats, Jones collected 11 RBI in a quartet of games, and scored four runs. The junior registered multiple RBI in each of the four games.
Cole Graverson, Butler, Jr., LHP
In 7.0 innings of work, Graverson allowed just two hits and one earned run, while striking out eight batters.
Ubaldo Lopez, Georgetown, Gr., OF
Lopez was vital for the Hoyas in two games this week batting .571 with four hits and four runs scored. Lopez earned five walks and had a slugging percentage of 1.000. Lopez chipped in four runs scored and a home run in the two games the Hoyas played.
Nick Payero, Seton Hall, Gr., RHP
Tossed 7.1 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and no walks that set the tone for the series in a 7-0 win over Creighton on Friday.
Jack O’Reilly, Villanova, Sr., 1B
O’Reilly batted 7-for-8 in a pair of games against Boston College, scoring four runs along with an RBI. The senior also collected four doubles and a triple. Overall, he capped the weekend with a .778 on base percentage and 1.500 slugging percentage.
Luke Hoskins, Xavier, So., RHP
Hoskins went 7.0 scoreless innings in the start at St. John’s on Sunday, allowing just five hits along the way. Hoskins finished with four strikeouts to no walks in the eventual 5-1 Xavier win, moving to 6-2 on the season.
