BIG EAST Player of the Week
Gunnar Duncan, Butler, So., C/UTL (Eaton, Colo.)
Duncan was dominant in a 3-1 week for Butler. He hit .600 with six hits, one home run and nine RBI. Against Toledo, Duncan went 3-for-4 with four RBI. In two games against Milwaukee, the sophomore tallied three hits, five RBI and a home run.
BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Cayden Suchy, UConn, So., LHP (Sterling, Va.)
Suchy put on a show at the mound on Saturday in an 8-0 win over Xavier to clinch the series in the conference opener. The sophomore lefty pitched 8.0 scoreless innings with just one hit and one walk allowed, while retiring 10 batters. He threw 100 pitches overall and did not allow a hit until the seventh inning.
Honor Roll
Grayson Bradberry, Butler, Fr., RHP
Bradberry tossed six innings allowing four hits and no runs while fanning five en route to his second win of the season.
Brock Buckley, Butler, Sr., RHP
Buckley was spectacular in game one of its series at Milwaukee, tossing a seven-inning complete game 6-2 victory with eight punchouts.
Nick Bowron, Creighton, Fr., 1B
In a 4-1 week for the Bluejays, Bowron went 5-for-13. The freshman also drew six walks to post an on-base percentage of .579.
Jack Pineau, Creighton, Jr., RHP
Pineau set a Bluejay season high with seven innings pitched in Creighton’s 6-2 win over Sacramento State in the series opener on Friday evening. He threw 99 pitches and struck out nine Hornets without walking a batter. Pineau limited Sacramento State to four hits and two unearned runs in a dominant performance.
Connor Peek, Georgetown, Gr., INF
Peek led the charge in the series opener against North Carolina A&T with three hits, three runs scored and five RBI. Overall, he scored six runs on the weekend with six hits that included three doubles and a home run.
Ashton Chronister, Xavier, Jr., LHP
Chronister threw 6.0 scoreless innings in Xavier’s 6-1 win over UConn in the series finale. He gave up just three hits and collected five strikeouts.
