BIG EAST Women’s Singles Player of the Week
Anna Roggenburk, R-Sr., Xavier (Avon Lake, Ohio)
Roggenburk earned a pair of straight set victories from the No. 2 singles spot this weekend, helping Xavier to a pair of BIG EAST wins. In the Musketeers’ 4-0 defeat of Marquette, the redshirt senior defeated Emma Davis, 6-1, 6-2. Against DePaul (W, 4-0), Roggenburk picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win over Eleanor Nobbs for her team-best 16th single win of the season. During the regular season, Xavier boasted a 5-0 record against BIG EAST opponents.
BIG EAST Women’s Doubles Team of the Week
Arina Gumerova (Gr., Ufa, Russia) & Mouna Bouzgarrou (Gr., Monastir, Tunisia), St. John’s
Gumerova and Bouzgarrou enjoyed an undefeated weekend with a trio of wins from the top doubles court as St. John’s picked up three victories to conclude the regular season. In Wednesday’s 4-2 defeat of Stony Brook, the pair powered past Mia Palladino and Elena Lobo-Corral, 6-3. Friday, the duo defeated Hofstra’s Lea Forste-Dinell and Deniz Doyer, 6-3, as the Red Storm surpassed the Pride, 4-1. Gumerova and Bouzgarrou concluded the weekend with a conference victory over Villanova’s Maggie Gherig and Emi Callahan (6-4).
BIG EAST Men’s Singles Player of the Week
Borja Miralles, 5th, Butler (Barcelona, Spain)
Playing at No. 2 doubles, Miralles wrapped the regular season with a hard-fought victory over Marquette’s Tin Krstulovic [7-6 (3), 6-4]. The win contributed to the Bulldogs’ 4-1 team triumph over the Golden Eagles in Milwaukee.
BIG EAST Men’s Doubles Team of the Week
Shourya Verma (Sr., Toronto, Ontario) & Jona Gitschel (Jr., Freiburg, Germany), DePaul
Verma and Gitschel clinched the doubles point from the top position as DePaul defeated fellow BIG EAST competitor, Xavier, to close out the regular season. The duo defeated Musketeers Ryan Cahill and Pascal Mosberger, 6-2. The 5-2 team victory marked the Blue Demons’ fifth win in the last six matches.
