BOYDS, Md. – The 2025 BIG EAST Men’s Soccer Championship Presented by JEEP concludes on Sunday at Noon ET when No. 1 seed Georgetown faces No. 3 seed UConn at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. The game will broadcast live on ESPN+ with Anthony Mazzini and Monika Moore calling the action.
The winner of the BIG EAST Championship receives the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The selection show is scheduled for Monday at 1 p.m. on NCAA.com. The Huskies (11-3-4, 5-2-1 BIG EAST) edged No. 2 seed Akron 2-1 in the Semifinals on Thursday, while the Hoyas (11-3-4, 6-0-2 BE) outlasted No. 4 seed Providence, 2-0.
Georgetown and UConn have matched up against each other 36 times in history, with Georgetown leading the all-time series 18-14-4 and 3-2-0 in the BIG EAST Tournament. The squads have met in the championship on one occasion, with UConn earning a 2-0 victory in 1999. Earlier this season, the Hoyas topped the Huskies 4-1.
Sunday marks the ninth straight season Georgetown will compete for a BIG EAST Championship, including the 10
th time in 11 seasons. The Hoyas have won six titles during this span (2015, 2017-19, 2021 and 2024). Overall the Hoyas have played in 13 championship games. UConn returns to the title game for the first time since 2011 and 14
th time overall. The Huskies have won seven BIG EAST Championships in program history, most recently winning in 2007.
Georgetown enters the matchup ranked No. 15 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll and No. 18 in the RPI. The Hoyas are riding a current six-match unbeaten streak (5-0-1), outscoring opponents 17-3. The Hoyas rank eighth nationally in scoring offense with 2.39 goals per game and rank sixth national with a goal differential of 30. BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year Zach Zengue ranks third nationally with 37 points and 0.61 assists. Zengue (13 goals, sixth) and Mitchell Baker (11 goals, 14
th) rank among the top-15 nationally in goals scored.
UConn ranks No. 11 in the most up to date RPI rankings, while receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. The Huskies enter Sunday on a five-match unbeaten streak (4-0-1) and winners of three straight. UConn garnered a league best six All-BIG EAST selections on Wednesday, highlighted by Sabri Hanni earning a first team nod. Austin Brummet, a second team selection, leads the team with eight goals and 19 points.
