BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Tinoda Matsatsa, Georgetown, Jr.  
Matsatsa finished second in the men’s mile at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, clocking a time of 3:56.26. The junior’s performance ranks as the second-fastest mile in the nation this season.

BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Nora Haugen, St. John’s, Sr.
Haugen began her indoor season with a record-setting victory in the 600m, setting a program, Norwegian, and Ocean Breeze facility record. The senior also ran on the St. John’s 4x400m relay team that won at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational in 3:38.33, ranking fourth nationally.

BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Marshall Potter, Connecticut, Fr.
Potter made an impressive UConn debut at the Harvard Classic, placing second in the weight throw with a mark of 17.58m and winning the shot put at 17.48m, ranking 29th nationally this season and ninth in program history.

BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Linn Hertz Saebbo, St. John’s, Grad.
Hertz Saebbo captured the long jump title at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational with a personal-best of 6.05m on her final attempt. The mark leads the BIG EAST, ranks third all-time in St. John’s history, and is tied for 12th nationally.

Notable Performances
  • Butler’s Jesse Hamlin kicked off the indoor season at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener by breaking his own program record in the 3,000 meters, finishing in 7:43.06 to surpass his previous mark of 7:44.69 set in 2022.
  • UConn’s Brooklyn Taylor made an impressive collegiate debut at the Harvard Classic, winning the 60m hurdles final in 8.46 after posting a top qualifying time of 8.45, which is tied for fifth in program history.
  • UConn’s Medwin Odamtten made a memorable UConn debut by breaking the program indoor 60m record at the Harvard Classic, winning the final in 6.63 after posting a top qualifying time of 6.69.
  • Georgetown’s Ida Moczerniuk opened her season at the Penn Opener by winning the women’s 60m in 7.36, breaking a nearly 30-year-old school record and setting a new meet record. The junior’s time is tied for the sixth fastest in the country.
  • Marquette’s Danny Olsen set a school record in the 300 meters, winning the event at the Blue & Gold Invitational on Dec. 5 with a time of 33.67.
  • Xavier’s Rielyn Jackson placed second in the 200m at the Tiger Open with a time of 25.47, the sixth-fastest in school history and third-fastest in the BIG EAST this season.
