GENEVA, Ohio – The Xavier women and Georgetown men are in the lead following the first night of the 2025 BIG EAST Swim and Dive Championships Presented by JEEP.
The Musketeer women picked up 120 points followed by the 11-time reigning champions, Villanova (116) in second, and UConn in third (108).
On the men’s side, the three-time reigning champion Hoyas amassed 136 points, ahead of Seton Hall (2
nd, 115) and Villanova (3
rd, 89).
Villanova won the meet’s opening event, the women’s 800 free relay, with a 7:15.66 swim by teammates Riley Kudlac, Amylia Higgins, Anna Farley, and Martina Lonati. Xavier followed close behind (7:15.79) with UConn rounding out the top three (7:21.56).
Seton Hall (Bailant Marosi, Michael Klimaszewski, Jaden Bunt, Kevin Cary) was victorious in the men’s 800 free relay, finishing in 6:27.12. Georgetown took second (6:32.22) while Xavier finished third (6:35.31).
Villanova’s Nicholas Jubilee won the week’s first diving event, conquering the three-meter dive with a score of 370.85. Seton Hall’s Nicholas Graham took second (367.75) while Georgetown’s Nicolas Santiago placed third (359.15).
Xavier swam away with their first victory of the meet in the women’s 200-medley relay. Reese Turner, Jordyn Libler, Erin Ritz, and Olivia Oyster finished in 1:39.52, fractions of a second ahead of second place Georgetown (1:39.59). UConn again rounded out the top three (1:40.10).
The Musketeer men replicated the women’s success, also winning the 200-medley relay. Matt Fralic, Ethan Saunders, Aiden Leamer, and Gage Hannewyk took the event in 1:27.39. Seton Hall swam into second (1:27.59) and Georgetown grabbed third (1:28.22).
Day two will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday with the prelims of the 500 free, 200 IM, and 50 free. The women’s one-meter diving prelims will kick off at 1 p.m. Finals are scheduled for 5:45 p.m.
