BIG EAST Player of the Week
Jace Jeremiah, St. John’s, Sr., INF (San Mateo, Calif.)
Jeremiah was instrumental in the Red Storm’s 4-1 week slashing .478/.500/.522 with a team best 11 hits, along with seven RBI, four runs scored, a walk and a stolen base. In a win over Manhattan, he registered three hits and two RBI, before reaching base the next day in a win over Fairfield. In a weekend series win over Winthrop, he had at least two hits in all three games, along with registering five RBI with three runs scored.
BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Ian Koosman, Creighton, Jr., RHP (Willmar, Minn.)
Koosman was dominant in the Bluejay’s 1-0 win over South Dakota State, limiting the Jackrabbits to just two hits over seven innings. He notched nine strikeouts in the shutout and walked just one batter. Koosman’s effort was the longest start of the season for a Bluejay pitcher, needing just 85 pitches for seven frames as he retired 21 of the 26 batters he faced.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Oliver Pudvar, UConn, R-So., LHP
Pudvar pitched 7.0 innings against UNC Greensboro, allowing just one run and striking out 10 batters in a 3-1 victory.
Kavi Caster, Georgetown, Gr., OF
Caster slashed .727/.667/.909 in a 1-3 week for the Hoyas, tallying eight hits, a triple, two RBI, two walks and five stolen bases.
John Downing, Seton Hall, Jr., RHP
Downing tossed five scoreless innings to earn his fourth win of the season. Trailing 4-2 in the fifth inning against Iona, Downing closed out the game with a career-high four strikeouts and didn’t allow a run, as the Pirates came back to win 5-4.
Jason Neff, Villanova, Gr., C
Neff homered three times in a 2-2 week, while tallying eight RBI and scoring five runs.
Clay Burdette, Xavier, So., OF
Burdette led the Musketeers with a .455 average in a series sweep over Ball State. The sophomore collected five hits, three RBI, a walk, a home run and scored four times in the trio of contests.
