Marquette’s Adler Earns Final Spring MGOLF Honors

NEW YORK – Marquette senior Patrick Adler has earned the final BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week accolade for the spring season. Adler recorded three rounds of under par and tied for third place at the prestigious Boilermaker Invitational. Marquette rallied on the final day of the event to finish in first place for the fourth time this season. The league’s men’s golfers were preparing for this weekend’s BIG EAST Championship presented by JEEP at Callawassie Island in Okatie, S.C.

Adler shot an 8-under 205 (67-68-70) to tie for third place at the Boilermaker Invitational. Adler’s 7-under mark on par-5 holes helped propel him to his third top-three finish of the season. He recorded three rounds of under par for the first time since doing it twice last fall. The strong field included three teams ranked ahead of the Golden Eagles – Illinois, Purdue and Notre Dame.

 

Men’s Notes St. John’s Peicheng Chen continued his strong season with a third-place finish at the Robert Kepler Collegiate hosted by Ohio State. The senior shot 2-over 215 to record his sixth top-three finish. Chen is the defending BIG EAST Championship medalist…Creighton also competed at the Robert Kepler. Junior Grant Feldman tied for fifth place to earn his fourth top-10 finish in his last five outings. Feldman shot a 217 that included a final round of 1-under 70, which was his 13th round of par or better this season…Butler, Georgetown and DePaul competed with Marquette at the Boilermaker Invitational. Butler finished 14th led by Logan Sutto who tied for 31st at 214 (+1). Georgetown was 15th led by Barnes Blake who tied for 23rd at even-par 213. DePaul tied for 17th led by freshman Rohan Gopaldas who tied for 53rd at 218…Xavier junior Zach Burton tied for seventh at the A-State Spring Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark., with a 2-under 214 and helped the Musketeers finish second in the team standings with a score of 883 (-1). Xavier has seven top-five finishes this season. Burton has four career top-five finishes…UConn junior Connor Goode earned his fourth top-10 of the season, tying for eighth place in the Rutherford Invitational at Penn State with a 1-over 214 (74-72-68). Goode has a team-best 15 pars or better this season… Seton Hall competed twice last week. In the rain-shortened Princeton Invitational, the Pirates finished third in a 14-team field ahead of sixth-place Georgetown, which also played twice. The Hall also claimed second place in a field of 12 teams at the Shark Invitational, hosted by LIU. Junior David Lally stood out for the Pirates. At Princeton, he tied for second place among 75 golfers with a 2-under 140 (67-73). It was his second career sub-par tournament. At the Shark Invitational, Lally tied for 18th place with a 5-over 215 (70-71-74).
