CINCINNATI -
Xavier men's golf was selected to participate in the NCAA Corvallis Regional on Wednesday afternoon. The tournament will be played at Trysting Tree Golf Club on May 18-20.
The low five teams and low individual from each region will qualify for a spot in the championship finals. Thirty teams and six individuals in total will compete in the finals on May 29 - June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
Xavier
punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament by capturing the BIG EAST Championship on May 4, the program's ninth conference championship and first title since 2005. The Musketeers posted a 54-hole score of 843 (-21), defeating Marquette by four strokes (847, -17).
Freshman
Cayse Morgan hit eight-under-par 64 in the final round on May 4, tied for the lowest single round score in tournament history. His 54-hole score of 202 (-14) was also tied for the lowest 54-hole score in tournament history (he tied Louisville's Derek Fathauer who hit 14-under in 2006).
Morgan was the first Xavier golfer to earn medalist honors at the BIG EAST Championships since 2019 (Garrett Wood). The Cincinnati native is the ninth Xavier golfer to earn medalist honors at a conference championship since 1998. Morgan is the first freshman to earn medalist honors at the BIG EAST Championships since Marquette's Hunter Eichhorn in 2018.
