NEW YORK – (April 25, 2025) The bracket for the 2025 BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Championship Presented by JEEP was solidified Friday night. Marquette topped Denver to secure the final spot in the Championship, joining Georgetown, Providence and Villanova in the four-team field.
In a game to decide the No. 1 seed, Georgetown (9-4, 4-1 BE) jumped ahead early and never looked back against the Wildcats (7-6, 4-1 BE). The Hoyas secured a 17-9 victory behind a BIG EAST record performance by freshman Jack Ransom. The attacker scored nine goals as the Hoyas earned a share of the regular season title with the Wildcats. Despite the setback, Villanova clinched the No. 2 seed in next week’s tournament.
In a matchup for the final postseason berth, Marquette (7-6, 2-3 BE) topped Denver (7-7, 2-3 BE), 18-11, to lock up the No. 4 seed in the BIG EAST Championship. Nolan Rappis poured in five goals, while Carsen Brandt and Will Foster each scored three times to lead the Golden Eagles offense. Marquette returns to the BIG EAST Championship for the first time since 2022.
Rounding out the night, Providence (7-7, 3-2) outlasted St. John’s (4-11, 0-5), 16-10, to lock up the No. 3 seed in the Championship. Jack Horrigan tallied seven goals, while Ryan Bell scored twice and dished out six assists in the victory.
The BIG EAST Championship will open Thursday, May 1 at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium, with No. 1 seed Georgetown facing off against No. 4 seed Marquette for a spot in the title game. The game will air on CBS Sports Network at 6 p.m. ET.
The second semifinal will be played between No. 2 seed Villanova and No. 3 seed Providence. The game will also air on CBS Sports Network with a projected 9 p.m. ET face off.
Semifinal winners will meet on May 3 to decide the conference champion and earn the league’s automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Championship. The BIG EAST final will air live on CBSSN at 5 p.m. ET.
