BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Honors Announced (4.29.25)

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Georgetown Men’s 4x800 Relay Team – James Dunne, Theo Woods, Tinoda Matsatsa and Abel Teffra
The relay took first place in the College Men’s 4x800 Championship of America at the Penn Relays with a time of 7:13.95.
 
Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Travis Roux, UConn, Sr.
Roux earned a personal record in the discus throw at the Penn Relays at 52.19m, ranking eighth in UConn’s program history.
 
Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Sarah Trainor, UConn, Sr.
Trainor ranks second in program history following a 10:05.46 time in the 3000m steeplechase at the Penn Relays. The performance earned the top spot in the BIG EAST.
 
Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Riley Ward, Marquette, So.
Ward recorded the second-best javelin throw in program history at the Drake Relays with a mark of 41.33 meters to finish second.
 
Notable Performance
  • Butler sophomore Cabott Craft set a new personal best at the Fighting Illini Twilight in the men’s long jump at 7.28 meters moving him up to fourth in the Big East this season.
  • Lauren Doerr (Butler, Sr.) ran a season-best in the women’s 100 meters with a time of 12.13 at the Illini Twilight. Her time is now the ninth fastest in the conference.
  • UConn freshman Griffin Mandirola recorded the fifth fastest time in program history in the 3000m steeplechase at the Penn Relays with a time of 8:56.08.
  • Jake Ziebarth set a Creighton record in the 1,500m with a time of 3:46.74 to take first place.
  • Providence graduate student Shannon Flockhart was the first leg in the College Women's Distance Medley Championship of America at Penn Relays and finished the first leg of the 1,200 meters in first place in a time of 3:18.59.
