2025 BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Championship Semifinal Set for Thursday Night

DENVER – The 2025 BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Championship Presented by JEEP opens Thursday night at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium with a pair of semifinal games. At 4 p.m. MT, No. 1 seed Georgetown faces No. 4 seed Marquette. At 7 p.m., MT No. 2 seed Villanova takes on No. 3 seed Providence. Both games will air live on CBS Sports Network. The winners of Thursday night’s games will return to Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday at 3 p.m. MT in the title game. The BIG EAST Champion will earn an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament. The 2025 NCAA Tournament bracket will be revealed Sunday, May 4 at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

Georgetown and Marquette open the BIG EAST Championship Thursday night at 4 p.m. Georgetown enters the field as the top-seed, after winning a share of the BIG EAST Regular Season title. With a 9-4 overall mark and 4-1 record in BIG EAST play, the Hoyas rank 13th nationally. The Golden Eagles enter the field as the No. 4 seed with a 7-6 overall record and 2-3 mark in league play. The Hoyas and Golden Eagles met early in the season, with Georgetown securing a 10-9 double overtime win. The Hoyas lead the series with a 10-5 mark, winning each of the last seven meetings. The Golden Eagles are competing in the tournament semifinal for the first time since 2022.

Villanova and Providence close out semifinal action Thursday night. The Wildcats enter postseason play with a 7-6, 4-1 BIG EAST record, earning a share of the regular season crown. The the Friars enter the tournament with a 7-7, 3-2 BIG EAST mark. In their last time facing off, Villanova got the best of the Friars, 11-8, behind four goals from Colin Michener. In the only previous postseason meeting between the pair of squads, Providence outlasted Villanova in 2017, by a score of 10-7.
